directed by: Simone Dobmeier, Hedwig Schmutte, Torsten Striegnitz
"It is rare and striking that a project is so committed to beauty" (Süddeutsche Zeitung)
In a investigation room created specially by variuos medial room levels director Claus Peymann, historian Christopher Clark, literary scholar Ulrike Landfester and Kleist's biographer Alexander Weigel act as the investigators.
Also the guesthouse where Henriette Vogel (Meret Becker) and Heinrich von Kleist (Alexander Beyer) spent their last night is reconstructed in a stylized manner.
The investigation directly leads into the life of the great German playwright, whose work can be seen today at all significant theatres, but in his days he had not been that successful. The film shows in which dangerous ways Kleist had been entangled in the major political issues of his times and how far ahead of its time he was.
